Seawright Drives to Duck River Raceway Park Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series Victory

LEWISBURG, TENNESSEE (August 12, 2022)– The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series would visit Duck River Raceway Park in Lewisburg, TN on Friday evening for a $5,000 to win event and Sam Seawright of Fort Payne, AL would lead all forty laps of the contest on his way to a $5,000 victory. The victory for the 18-year-old Seawright would be his second career Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series victory and would come in a Rocket Chassis powered by a Durham Race Engine with sponsorship from Agcor Steel, J&R Lumber Supply, Farm Systems, Inc., Team Grow Pediatric Therapy, and J&R Excavating.

Sam Seawright would take the lead from his outside front-row starting position, with Eli Beets, Michael Chilton, Will Roland, and Jadon Frame in pursuit. The front trio of Seawright, Beets, and Chilton would put some distance on the rest of the field as race leader Seawright would start lapping slower traffic on lap nine and would work the high line of the racing surface to perfection, keeping all pursuers at bay. The first of three cautions in the event waved on lap fourteen when Joe Denby slowed on the backchute with mechanical issues. The restart would have Seawright, Beets, Chilton, and Roland remain in the top four spots, while 12th place starter Josh Putnam would drive past Frame to take the fifth position. Putnam would challenge Roland for fourth but could not make a pass of Roland for the position, while Seawright continues to maintain a comfortable lead out front. The second caution of the event appeared on lap lap twenty-one for a spin in turn two by Tommy Taylor, who would pull pitside after the spin. Seawright again maintained the lead on the lead, while Chilton would pressure Beets for the runner-up slot and Chilton would take the second position in turn three on the restart. As the field completed lap thirty, Seawright would still maintain a comfortable lead, with Chilton and Beets now second and third, while Roland continued to hold off Putnam for fourth. The final caution of the race would appear on lap thirty-seven for a frontchute spin by Joseph Faulkner, who would continue. Seawright would maintain the lead and drive to the victory, with Chilton, Beets, Roland, and Putnam completing the top five. Forrest Trent would finish sixth, with Chase Oliver, 21st place starter Wil Herrington, Scott Cook, and Matthew Brocato completing the top ten finishers.

The next event for the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series will be at Talladega Short Track in Talladega, AL on Saturday August 13 for the track’s Governor’s Cup event, paying $10,000 to win.
